Ticket Stub from JM's first German show
Date Of Item : October 13, 2002
The Story...
I am moving and found this old ticket from JM at the Gebäude9 in Cologne, Germany from October 13, 2002. I remember that I had been waiting for a year for him to tour in Europe and since 2003 he sadly hasn't been back to Germany. The venue Gebäude9 can hold 500 people, but only around 50-60 showed up for his show back then.

Any Given Thursday Promotional Plastic Bag
Date Of Item :
The Story...
I can't say for certain if these were distributed in 2002 or 2003, but I would guess the former. I'm also unsure of their usage or how many were circulated. I assume it was made to spread the good word about the release of the live album |

Room For Squares - Philippines Edition
Date Of Item : 2002
The Story...
Subject Says It All. Not sure when exactly it was released, I just know it was 2002. The cool thing about this is not only the alternate cover/artwork, but the bonus material. It includes acoustic versions of "No Such Thing" and "Back to You" with live versions of "Lenny" and "The Wind Cries Mary." It also has video footage with John as well. |

Room For Squares Promotional Plastic Bag
Date Of Item : 2001
The Story...
There's not too much to say about this item. I don't think the production was anything outrageous. I know there are some in circulation, but I don't know anyone else personally who has 1. I assume they were distributed around the time the first RFS was released, but I'm not 100% sure on that. |

Eddie's Attic Calendar - December 2005
Date Of Item : December 19, 2005
The Story...
i got this calendar from eddie owen after john's first return performance at eddie's attic on 12.19.05. prior to the show, i'd asked my friend to grab me a calendar from the front register because eddie's doesn't give out physical tickets. my friend came back with a january '06 calendar, which obviously didn't have john listed on it, so i asked eddie if he had any extra december '05 calendars lying around. the 2 nights i attended were surreal and wonderfully played, and i'm thankful i was able to make it back to decatur for them. ~jocelyn

Tabernacle Ticket Stub - April 2001
Date Of Item : April 14, 2001
The Story...
when this show happened, i'd been listening to guster for 4 years and to john for a year and half. this was the first JM show i attended that was ticketed, though john's name is not actually on the ticket with guster's. his set at the tabernacle was so fantastic that my friends and i took a road trip the following weekend to see him play in tennessee. i know a lot of guster fans that became fans of john's music after seeing this particular show. ~jocelyn |

Village Underground Ticket Stub
Date Of Item : June 19, 2001
The Story...
this $12 ticket stub is from john's first national headlining tour. it scanned in black and white, but the border is actually green and purple. tickets for this show at the village underground went on sale in may '01 and the show sold out. a second show was added, but it actually took place before this one, on father's day (06.17.01). though i didn't attend that one, i know that it was a seated show. the 06.19.01 show was a standing show, though there were booths in the back/on the side where i sat. it marked the first time i saw john play with a drummer -- nir z sat in on a few tracks -- and the only time i heard john play why did you mess with forever. it was also david labruyere's birthday the next day, so john and the crowd sang to him. howie day opened the show. ~jocelyn

Smith's Olde Bar Blues Aftershow Ticket
Date Of Item : August 29, 2004
The Story...
this ticket is from the last of a series of blues aftershows that john's played during the 2004 summer tour. the ticket cost $10. i hadn't been able to see john play at smith's olde bar while i was in college because i wasn't yet 21, so it was great to see him in the venue a few years later. it was my first major glimpse of the precursor to JM3. ~jocelyn |
